Parking

Parking in this area is generally pretty tight, and the streets are patrolled regularly by traffic wardens.

There are single yellow line areas immediately outside No.1 – these can be used at any time for loading, as well as for parking evening/overnight 6pm-8am Mon-Sat and all day Sunday. Most of the rest of the spaces nearby are designated as Permit Holders Only (Zone A). Between 10am and 4pm you will need a visitors day permit to park in these areas, and we have plenty in the house, you just need to mark the appropriate date and car registration on it and display on dashboard.

There are usually spaces available during the day for permit holders as local residents come and go – after 4pm you won’t need a permit for overnight but it gets harder to find a space close by. After 6pm the single yellow lines areas come into play.

There are also a few short-stay places nearby where the restriction only applies daytimes Monday-Saturday so these can be used to park overnight:

  • Cannon Street outside the pub where the restriction is 1hr max 10am-4pm, so parking there is effectively free/unrestricted after 3pm until 11am next morning.
  • St. Johns St. – At the end of Orchard St, turn right and immediately there are a few short-stay (30min max) spaces. Check the restriction times as they’re not all the same – some end at 4pm and some at 5pm. However, they do all start again at 9am so any overnight stays need to move on by 9.30am.

If you can’t find a space at all, there are overnight stay car parks in easy walking distance that are very reasonably priced (more info on local car parks)
