Using the hi-fi
The music system is controlled using the Sonos app installed on a tablet which you should find on the stand on the small table in the living room. The app is set up to stream from Tidal and BBC Sounds.
The hi-fi consists of:
- One Sonos Port audio streamer connected to a Bantam Gold stereo amplifier (both located in the cupboard under the TV) and 2 KEF bookshelf speakers.
- Two stereo-paired Sonos Roam SL portable wireless speakers – these are left on chargers in the main bedroom but can also be moved to the kitchen.
Using your own device
Additionally you can play music from any Bluetooth-enabled device through the Sonos system, as there is also a Zen Air Bluetooth receiver connected to the Sonos Port. To use this you must first connect your device to the Zen Air (instructions below), then in the Sonos app switch to ‘Line In’ which will apear in ‘Your Sources’ when the device starts starts playing. When connected this way, the device can play through the Sonos network (either to Port or Roam SL or both synchronised).
Pairing: To connect your own playing device via Bluetooth for the first time, hold the receiver’s right-hand button down until it blinks blue & red. You should then be able to select ‘ifi Hi-Res Audio‘ from options in the player’s Bluetooth settings.
The hi-fi will receive the Bluetooth signal from anywhere in the house, so you can still control the music playing downstairs from the upstairs bedrooms.
Volume is best controlled on the app/device but if the range is not sufficient you can adjust the volume knob on the amplifier.
